I visited the Eggardon Hill site today for routine maintenance on G0ROZ-3. I found that a fan on the computer was making so much noise that I could hear it outside the hut. On checking, it was found that the computer was running very slow. We keep a spare computer on site so it was just a matter of changing the Pentium 200 computer running WinXP to a Pentium 75 running Win95. I have brought the P200 back home and will see if it can be fixed or whether we need a new computer. Meanwhile, G0ROZ-3 is running and appears to be working normally.

  1. I had to resort to chemical warfare to deal with several large and angry spiders inside the P200 case. Examination reveals that the CPU fan is the culprit which was causing the CPU to get too hot. I am unable to get a replacement fan locally but was able to find one on the internet. Awaiting it's arrival from the USA before I can fix the P200

  2. The fan finally arrived today and has been installed in the P200. All is working well again. Now all I need is some decent weather to make the trip up the hill.

  3. The weather is still not good enough to venture up Eggardon. Looks like it will have to wait until next week.

  4. I managed to get through the snow and up to Eggardon Hill today. The repaired Pentium 200 machine has been put back on the system and appears to be working okay. Fingers crossed
